Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Veterinarian located in Blackstone, VA. The Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventative care to animals.
Routine duties include:
- Diagnosing and treating injuries or illnesses
- Performing surgical procedures
- Providing guidance to pet owners on nutrition and general care
- Keeping accurate medical records for every animal
- Performing wellness exams and routine vaccination services
Additional responsibilities may include supervising veterinary staff and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations related to animal care.
Qualifications
- Veterinary medical skills, including proficiency in diagnosing and treating animal health issues, understanding animal anatomy, and performing surgical procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with pet owners and team members
- Compassion, empathy, and dedication to the well-being primarily of dogs and cats
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail when evaluating and treating patients
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and effectively manage staff if needed
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a valid licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Virginia
- Experience with modern diagnostic tools and veterinary software systems and scribing, as well as ultrasound proficiency
Schedule
- 4-day work week
- Appointment hours: 9–12 and 2–5
- We close at 5 — did we mention we close at 5?
- Extremely limited weekend responsibility only as needed for patient care and boarding patient monitoring, supported by a shared rotating call schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
- Customary professional dues and license fees paid
- CE allowance
- $100,000 base pay per year plus 20% production bonus
